RELEASE OF 2019 PTCE AND 2019 MALAWI ADVANCED CRAFT CERTIFICATE EXAMINATIONS RESULTS

On 14th February 2020, the Malawi National Examinations Board (MANEB) released results for 2019 Primary Teacher Certificate of Education (PTCE) and 2019 Malawi Advanced Craft Certificate Examinations. Announcement of the release of the results was presided over by the Honourable Minister of Education, Science and Technology, Dr William Susuwele Banda, MP in the Ministry’s Conference room.

Speaking before the announcement of the results, the Executive Director for MANEB, Mr Gerald Chiunda, assured the public that all processes leading to the examination results were done in a professional manner and explained the passing requirements for each of the two examinations.

Mr Chiunda indicated that the PTCE candidates   had done well in methodological sections of the examination papers than the content   part. This was attributed to the fact that the candidates had sat for the examination after they had done their Teaching Practice (TP), which comes midway through the training programme. The reflections from TP might have, therefore, helped them do well in the methodological sections of the papers.

The Honourable Minister congratulated Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, Ministry of Labour, Skills and Innovation and MANEB officials for the timely release of the examination results which would allow candidates who had done well to be absorbed into the labour market by prospective employers.

The Honourable Minister commended MANEB for taking a step further in its analysis by ranking colleges and candidates according to their performance using qualitative and quantitative aspects. He was fully convinced that the ranking would facilitate the provision and implementation of appropriate interventions to uplift teaching and learning standards in colleges.

The Honourable  Minister applauded the Teacher Training Colleges and Technical Colleges that had produced the best results in the 2019 examinations and also  congratulated the ten best candidates in PTCE examination.

Board Chairperson for MANEB, Professor Al Mtenje, thanked the Honourable Minister for presiding over the gathering and emphasized that the Honourable Minister’s presence underscored his personal commitment and that of government in matters to do with MANEB, in particular, and educational assessment in general. He also expressed his appreciation to  Government for supporting  MANEB’s  endeavours, which had resulted in timely release of the examinations results.
